CO2 can replace CO as the raw material to synthetize methanol, and this process has become a hot research area. In this work, methanol synthesis from carbon dioxide and hydrogen over CuO/ZnO-based catalysts has been studied.First, the catalytic performance of CuO/ZnO catalysts with different supports on carbon dioxide hydrogenation to methanol was investigated in fixed-bed plug flow reactor. And then MCM-41 was selectetd to be the support to prepare CuO/ZnO/MCM-41 catalyst. The activity of CuO/ZnO/MCM-41 catalyst was tested under different conditions. The result showed that temperature, pressure and space velocity had effects on the catalytic performance. The optimal experimental condition was 240℃and space velocity of 3600ml/(g·h). The higher pressure led to better catalytic activity.CuO/ZnO/MCM-41 catalysts were prepared by desposition precipitation method and they were tested and characterized by XRD and H2-TPR. The result showed that the optimal condition was the ageing time of 24h and the calcination temperature of 350℃for the CuO/ZnO/MCM-41 catalyst with 10% MCM-41 prepared by carbonate.CuO/ZnO/MCM-41 catalysts were prepared by desposition precipitation method and modified by metal oxides as promoters. The effects of the addition of Ag2O, ZrO2, La2O3, MnO or Fe2O3 on CuO/ZnO/MCM-41 catalysts were studied and the catalytic performance of CuO/ZnO/MCM-41 catalysts with different contents of Ag2O was investigated. The catalysts were characterized by XRD and H2-TPR. Ag2O could improve the catalytic activity of CuO/ZnO/MCM-41 catalyst and CuO/ZnO/MCM-41 catalyst with 6% Ag2O had the highest yield of methanol.CuO/ZnO/ZrO2 catalysts were prepared through the method of co-precipitation and modified by metal oxides as promoters. The effects of the addition of Ag2O or La2O3 promoter on CuO/ZnO/ZrO2 catalysts and the catalytic performance of CuO/ZnO/ZrO2 catalyst with different contents of La2O3 were investigated. The catalysts were characterized by XRD and H2-TPR. Both the promoters improved the activity of catalysts and the catalyst with 6% La2O3 had the best result.
