The eutrophication of water bodies becomes very serious in China and the outbreak of algae bloom is in a rapid increase trend. These have a disastrous influence on social and economic development as well as people's life and production. Eutrophication has become one of the most important and difficult issues of environmental protection. Phosphorus has been considered as the key factors leading to the eutrophication of water bodies, and the water was regarded as eutrophication when the concentration of P is more than 0.1mg/L according to the research. Therefore, the eutrophication bodies should be restored and protected to control the concentration of phosphorus. In the existing phosphorus treatment technology, chemical flocculation has been applied successfully and widespreadly. In this paper, a kind of high-effect flocculant had been prepared by using a kind of industry waste residue from the process of smelt. The phosphorus removal effects, the optimum conditions and the mechanism of the flocculation were studied, and it is also used in treating some kinds of practical water samples. The main research contents and results of the paper are included as following:For the simulated P-containing water, the removal rate of phosphorus with the acid-heat modified dephosphorization can reach 99.5% with the dosage of 600mg/L, which had enhanced 8.7% compared with raw dephosphorization, while the dosage reduced 25%. And the modified dephosphorization had little effect on pH of the wastewater, the reaction speed became faster, too. In modification, the removal of certain impurities, the emergence of substance favorable for phosphorus removal and the larger specific surface all contribute to the higher removal efficiency. The phosphorus concentrartion of the effluent can reduce to below 0.05mg/L with this kind of flocculant, which was the lowest in contrast with the traditional phosphorus flocculant for the simulated water. And it also has the advantage of good sedimentation performance and low cost. The removal efficiency of the flocculant on practical water samples was aslo studied in the research. The results showed that the removal rate could reach 97.3%, 94.5% and 95.9%, respectively for the water samples of East Lake (initial P concentration 1.79mg/L), South Lake (initial P concentration 0.78mg/L) and domestic sewage (initial P concentration 10.13mg/L). Meanwhile, other indexes such as COD,SS,TN and turbidity were also reduced to meet the requirement of relevant national standard, and the flocculant was settled to the bottom of the beaker in half an hour. So the flocculant has a wide range of potential applications and broad prospects.
