| The figure and pattern of reconstituted decorative lumber is a major factor that decides its appearance and decorative effects. The study on texture simulation and design of reconstituted decorative lumber has an important role in solving conflict between reduced timber production and people's ever-increasing demand for fine wood. This paper presents a study on grain pattern simulation and design of reconstituted decorative lumber using the computer-aided design technique, the results of which has a certain significance in the utilization of reconstituted decorative lumber and related products design. In this paper,3D modeling of the simulation process is done through grain recognition, mold modeling and simulation of lumber slicing. From the aspects of stacking styles, grain pattern design of reconstituted decorative lumber is studied. And a grain pattern layout program is designed.Main results of this study are as followed:(1) Using computer-aided design techniques in grain simulation provides a visual method for grain recognition, mold modeling and simulation of lumber slicing in 3D modeling software. This method greatly improves the accuracy of grain pattern simulation and makes the design process of products visually controlled.(2) The method of grain pattern design by different stacking styles demonstrates a new potential of innovative texture design of reconstituted decorative lumber. Molded straight grain pattern design and multi-stacking and re-gluing can provide endless design possibilities and the implementation of the production is easily operated.(3) The grain pattern layout program makes it possible to draw the end face view and grain pattern of the design by entering the bottom mold radius, material veneers'thickness and the slicing angle, rather than using 3D modeling software. |
