Research On NC Code Automatic Generating System Of Chinese Character Engraving

Chinese characters engraving, the perfect combination of Chinese calligraphy and engraving technology, is an ancient art. As the traditional Chinese characters carved low productivity and high cost, have been unable to meet market demand. With the development of CNC technology, CNC engraving has become mainstream. CNC engraving of Chinese characters is the use of CNC machining technology to the Chinese engraving, which has improved efficiency. Chinese characters engraving CAD/CAM software is the core of Chinese characters CNC engraving system, and how to parse and generate NC code for Chinese characters are the key part of the software. With specialized applications of this paper,using VC++ as a development tool and adopting the CNC engraving method based on vector font, has analyzed the all information of Chinese characters and generated NC code that required to CNC engraving.The main contents are as follows:Firstly, NC code automatical generating system of Chinese characters engraving is generally planned. And the specific technology roadmap is given.Secondly, file format of TrueType fonts, SHX and DXF are analyzed. Then, outline data and the geometric information of character are extracted.Thirdly, two-dimensional outline of Chinese characters are optimized fitted with NURBS.The method of virtual data is put forwarded pointing to avoid the first and last data points oscillated during the process of NURBS curves reversingFourthly, skeleton of Chinese characters are extracted using the principle of medial axis transformation.Finally, the transformation of engraving depth is achieved using the theory of width mapping, and marked three-dimensional form of Chinese characters presented. So, three-dimensional engraving is initial realized.Based on the above research, NC code automatical generating system of Chinese characters engraving is developed. The NC code of Chinese characters engraving is given, and engraving track is simulated and tested in three-dimension using OPENGL.It's proved that the generated NC code is feasible by testing.
