The research on the characteristics of worsted fabrics based on 33 kinds that are the more popular on the market, by using FAST fabric style tester and fabric drape style tester to test mechanical properties and style characteristics of the fabrics. And the objective evaluation systems and standard of the Characteristics are analyzed and studied.The 7 main factors have been obtained by using principal factor analysis method, that will have the most effect to the characteristics of the fabrics, and name the main factors as compressibility and thickness factor, weft extensibility factor, stiffness factor, weft compliance factor, warp extensibility factor, weft smoothness factor and warp smoothness factor. Analyzing experimental the mechanical properties and style characteristics of 33 kinds of worsted fabrics, and calculating the data of it, get the average, standard deviation, the maximum and minimum value, which is used to judge the fabric characters.Relationships between the fabric parameters and its mechanical performances have been got by using correlation analysis method. The results indicate that: the linear density of a fabric has a great effect on the warp extensibility, warp formability, thickness of it; the unit weightiness affect the fabric thickness greatly, and affect the fabric warp extensibility, warp bending rigidity, and warp formability considerably. Using clustering analysis method, analyze 27 index data of 33 kinds of worsted fabrics to get it into 5 categories.By testing the defects clothing provided by enterprise and using the standard range to comprehensive evaluate them. suggestions are govern for improving fabric manufacture processes, and for purchasing proper fabrics.
