Object:To understand the engendering and discharging of the main water-contaminant of the pollutant source in Urumqi-river; to comprehensive evaluate the environment quality and the pollution of Urumqi-river; to give some advise on the pollution prevention and cure of Urumqi-river and the integrated-management of the whole catchment.Method: The quality of water could be comprehensive evaluated and analyzed by force of collecting and collating the data of environment monitoring of water quality from 2006 to 2008 and the general investigation data of every pollutant source in 2007 in Urumqi-river, and by force of the comparison with "Environment Quality Standard of surface water" and the methods of evaluation with single-factor and index of comprehensive pollution.Results:1) The main contaminants in the cross section of Yaojin-bridge and Yingxiong-bridge were DO,COD and F"; the main contaminants in the cross section of Electric plant-bridge were COD, oil and CODMn; the main contaminants in the cross section of Gaojiahu-bridge were oil, COD and CODMn.2)The annual average of COD-contaminants in the cross sections of Gaojiahu-bridge changed a lot from 2005 to 2008. The standard deviation was 8.51 mg/L. The annual average of COD-contaminants in the cross sections of Yaojin-bridge changed little from 2005 to 2008. The standard deviation was 0.79 mg/L.The concentration of COD in Yingxiong-bridge, Electic plant bridge and Gaojiahu-bridge was the maximum in 2005.3)From 2005 to 2008, the mutative directions of oil in these four cross sections in Urumqi-river were coincident, such as the consistence of oil was the minimum in the cross section of Yaojin-bridge, then increasing in turn, and it could be the maximum in the cross section of Gaojiahu-bridge.The annual average of oil-contaminants in the cross sections of Yaojin-bridge and Yingxiong bridge changed all little from 2005 to 2008. Their standard deviation were lower than 0.01mg/L.The annual average of oil-contaminants in the cross sections of Gaojiahu-bridge changed a lot from 2005 to 2008. The standard deviation was 0.17 mg/L.The concentration of oil in Electic plant bridge and Gaojiahu-bridge was the maximum in 2005, respectively 0.225 mg/L and 0.353mg/L.4)The water quality in the cross sections of Yaojin-bridge, Yingxiong-bridge and Gaojiahu bridge in low water period were better than those in normal period. The water quality in the cross sections of electric platn-bridge in normal period was better than those in high water period. Conclusion:1)The water in the cross sections of Yaojin-bridge and Yingxiong-bridge are Levelâ… , which could reach the criteria for drinking.The water in the cross sections of electic-plant bridge and Gaojiahu bridge are Levelâ…£, which could reach the criteria for agricultural irrigating.2) The concentrion of main contaminants such as COD and oil in the Urumqi river are increased from upstream to downstream. The concentrion of main contaminants are low in Yaojin-bridge and Yingxiong-bridge, but in Electric plant and Gaojiahu bridge are high.Into the downtown water quality decrease significently.3) The impacts of industrial emission sources on water quaility of Urumqi River are less severs, major pollution sources are living emission sources along the river.
