During the process of drilling and workover in oil production in our country, hydraulic power tong was adopted to turn buckle mostly. Hydraulic tong adopts hanging installation, difficult way, and operation inconvenience. Due to the heavy equipment and more frequent operation, the safety of the person to constitute the enormous threat, there are many safe hidden trouble, and the working efficiency is low. Therefore, Iron roughneck is the device of automatic rotary buckle erected on the drilling platform, which has extensive application space.This paper is the articulated boom of TZG216-110 iron roughneck for research object. Aiming at the development in iron roughneck just starting stage, the problem whether the optimal design of the organization and structure design of the basic technical parameters, design institutions that meet the performance requirements, establish the 3d model and mechanism analysis through software, confirm to meet the design requirements. Finally conclude optimization parameters by optimization design.Based on the common production from other countries, this thesis construes the different type of iron roughneck and explains the structure, principle and parameters of iron roughneck. This thesis contrastively analyses the working principle, performance parameter and design scheme of the power tongs in our country and the different projects of iron roughneck from other countries and design the articulated boom of TZG216-110 iron roughnecks; virtual design and assembly for articulated boom is completed by using 3D software Solidworks; simulation analysis of kinematics and dynamics for iron roughneck in Cosmosmotion; obtain the trajectory and stress of the key point, it confirms the reasonable of articulated boom's design, and analysis the key parts of articulated boom by Finite Element Method; though the optimizing of articulated boom in Cosmosworks, ultimately determine meet design requirements of optimal dimensions parameters. Development of new iron roughnecks provides a theoretical reference.
