Recently, great interest has been focused on molecule materials with special function, Such as molecule-based superconductivity and optical materials.β-diketone complexes, which is a kind of high functional compound with outstanding magnetic and optical properties. Furthermore, in the realm of coordination chemistry, crystal engineering and materials chemistry, how to design and synthesis of these compound are becoming the new most-focused researching interests. In this paper, threeβ-diketone ligands and thirteen metal compounds were synthesized.This thesis consists of the following three parts:Part 1:threeβ-diketone ligands:2-(3-oxo-3-phenylpropionyl)-6-pyridine -carboxylic acid (H2L1),2,6-bis(3-oxo-3-phenylpropionyl)-pyridine (H2L2) and 2,6-bis(3-thienyl-3-phenylpropionyl)-pyridine (H2L3) which are characterized as symmetric and asymmetricβ-diketonate groups respectively, were designed and synthesized. All ligands were characterized by elemental analyses, UV-Vis, IR,1H NMR.Part 2:Four novel metal complexes have been synthesized in conventional synthestic condition with ligand H2L1. They include one trinuclear compound: [Ni3(L1)2(OAc)2(DMF)2(H2O)2]-DMF-H2O (1), two tetranuclear compounds: [Ni4(L1)4(DMF)(H2O)3]·2.5DMF·3H2O (2) and [Ni4(L1)4(H2O)4]·10(H2O)(3), one dinuclear compound:[Yb2(L1)2(NO3)2(H2O)2]2·2(C2H5OH)·2(H2O) (4). The magnetic behavior of complexes 1 and 2 were also investigated and discussed in this paper.Part 3:Three kind of heterometallic compound have been Synthesized based on ligand H2L2 and H2L3:three lanthanide-alkaline earth heterometallic compounds [Co2Ca(L2)2(OAc)2(H2O)4]-2DMF (5), [Co2Ca(L2)2(OAc)2(CH3OH)4] (6) and [Ni2Ba(L2)2(DMF)2(H2O)2Cl2]·2DMF (7), two transition-transition heterometallic compounds:[Co2Pb(L2)2(OAc)2(CH3OH)4] (8) and [Ni2Pb(L2)2(OAc)2(CH3OH)4] (9), three transition-lanthanide heterometallic compounds:[Co2Ln(L3)2(OAc)3(CH3OH)2] [Ln=Eu(10), Pr(11), Nd(12), La(13)]. We also mainly studied their magnetic properties and the UV spectrum property.
