With the development of the socio-economic, people's health problems are becoming more and more concerned. In recent years, people choose to eat healthy vegetable oil instead of high-fat animal fat gradually. Millet bran is the by-product when the Millet was hulled and refined and contains a variety of nutrients. The oil extracted from Millet bran is very healthy, and the proportion of fatty acids which are contained in that oil fits with nutrition requirements more perfectly than the common edible oil. Besides, that oil can be widely used in medicine, health care products, cosmetics and other industries.With the extraction rate from millet oil bran as indexes, the process conditions for extracting millet bran oil by supercritical carbon dioxide was studied. By supercritical carbon dioxide fluid extraction– distillation, the effect of extraction pressure, extraction temperature, extraction time, carbon dioxide flow rate on the impact of oil extraction rate, distillation pressure, distillation and temperature on the distillation were discussed. The results showed that, the most suitable extraction conditions are: extracting pressure = 30MPa, extraction temperature = 45℃, extraction time = 2h, carbon dioxide flow rate = 50kg/h, material diameter=40 ,moisture content=7%. Under this condition the oil output rate is 19.69%. The most suitable conditions for extracting oil from millet bran by supercritical carbon dioxide-distillation is pressure = 30MPa, extraction temperature = 45℃, extraction time = 2h, carbon dioxide flow rate = 50kg/h, distillation column pressure = 10MPa, the temperature of distillationⅠ= 40℃, the temperature of distillationⅡ= 45℃, the temperature of distillationⅢ= 50℃, the temperature of distillationⅣ= 55℃. By measuring, the millet bran oil extracted by supercritical extraction contains high unsaturated fatty acids, and even the linoleic acid up to 67.8%. By comparions, the physical and chemical indicators of the millet bran oil extracted by supercritical extraction are better than commercially available millet bran oil. Thus, the method of carbon dioxide supercritical fluid extraction - distillation is a good method for extracting millet bran oil.There are abundant resources, about 200 million tons of an annual output of millet and more than 100,000 tons of bran production in China. And exploring millet can not only effectively use agricultural waste resources and reduce waste, but also drive the farmers to get rich and improve people's living standards. The current price of millet bran oil is about 10-60 yuan per ton. There is a bright future of millet bran oil industry in China. There are many advantages in using supercritical carbon dioxide extracting from the millet bran oil, such as high dissolving capacity in extraction process, faster transfer rate, better flow properties and the balance capacity, good adjustability and controllability. It can maintain biological activity of millet bran oil nutrients and avoid environmental pollution. The process is toxic pollution-free and achieves Cleaner Production.
