Yanghe reservoir as an important drinking water source in Qinhuangdao and Beidaihe region. In recent years, due to increasing of human production and life, a large number of discharged sewage into it, causing outbreak of "bloom" phenomenon in large water area of reservoir frequently, which posing a great threat to human existence.Sediment plays an important role in material circulation of the reservoir, not only because it as "sinks" of pollution to accept a large number of pollutants, but also it as "the source" of pollution to release pollutants to the overlying water continuously. This study focused on the pollution characteristics of phosphorus in sediment and source analysis and corresponding measures of controlling, the result suggest that phosphorus content of sediment loading in Yanghe reservoir is 667mg/kg, it is higher than five well-known freshwater lakes in China (Poyang Lake,Dongting Lake,Taihu Lake,Hong Ze Lake,Chaohu Lake) and the Yuqiao Reservoir;Phosphorus pollution of sediment mainly derived from discharged sewage of industrial and domestic, and agricultural non-point pollution source; In view of pollution feature and pollution source of sediment in Yanghe reservoir,we propose the comprehensive management control of exogenous and endogenous release,to grasp the governance principles of "truncated exogenous, control of endogenous and artificial ecological restoration" in the course of controlling,to renew and reconstruct aquatic ecosystems gradually,to control releasing from sediment phosphorus to the overlying water effectively.
