Anionic polyacrylamide with high molecular weight were obtained by Oxidation and reduction system and complex initiation system in static polymerization process through the constant temperature synthesis the performance of sedimentation by the modified products were tested. A modified anionic polyacrylamide which had a wide range of application and excellent flocculation products was received.Using redox initiator system, the experiment studied the effect of polymerization initial temperature, monomer concentration, initiator consumption, redox initiator ratio,urea consumption,metal masking consumption and chain transfer agent consumption on the molecular weight and solubility of polyacrylic acid amine. The reaction conditions of polymerization initiated byusing redox initiator was determined. The anionic polyacrylamide which have high solubility and up to 1.194×107 molecular weight have been synthesized.Adopted the compound initiator system initiating polymerizatin,the paper mainly studied the effect of oxidizer reducer amount,AIBA dosage,monomer concentration,reaction temperature,urea consumption, pH and metal masking on molecular weight and solubility of polymer. The reaction conditions has been defined.The molecular weight of the polymer synthesized in our lab is up to 1.262×107.Tl(?)e red mad sedimentation experiment was set by the modified product which has been modified by the anionic polyacrylamide synthesized in the laboratory. The anionic polyacrylamide synthesized in our laboratory.To combine the modified product and the red mud sedimentation floculant on the market, the effect of the combination on the red mud sedimentationwas tested. After the primary screening test,a kind of effective flocculated reagent had been found, which has advantages of good flocculation, wide applicability, reliable performance and can satisfy the demand in red mud sedimentation for the process of alumina extraction.
