On the market today, sheet setal parts account for more than 90% of the global metal products, which makes sheet-metal processing industry take an extremely important role in national economy and military. With the rapid development of information technology, the application of sheet-metal CAD/CAM technology will have important significance in improving the competitiveness of our sheet-metal enterprises.At present, there are few homemade CAD/CAM softwares on sheet metal processing and the price of foreign professional CAD/CAM softwares on sheet metal is so high that it is difficult for them to be applied widely toward small and medium enterprises. In response to this situation, code processing technologies on sheet-metal extension graphics have been recearched based on the programming method of NC processing of sheet metal parts, which can lay the foundation for developing the sheet-metal extension CAD/CAM software for small and medium enterprisesFor the reason that sheet-metal extension drawings are two-dimensional plane graphs, and AutoCAD is the most widely used two-dimensional interactive computer-aided drawing software with good graph editing function, AutoCAD is chosen as the development platform and VB as the development tool. Firstly, based on the analysis of NC codes, the code generic graphical display module is developed, and on which classifications of the sheet-metal parts have been finished. The technology of AutoCAD secondary development with VB is used to realize the materialization of different types of sheet metal extension graphics in the AutoCAD model space; Secondly, a graphical editor module is developed and the module is used in editing and typesetting extension graphics; Finally, under the premise of deep analysis of sheet metal NC programming, the processing order is established and processing code is re-exported to the data file with the features of AutoCAD graphics objects through man-machine interaction. In this way the new code generating module was developed.
