Abstract/Summary:
The frame is a fundamental and a very important load-carrying component to the continuous extrusion machine. The conventional methods were used to design the frame in the past. Conventional engineering calculation was carried out in an analogy way from experience. When checking the strength and the rigidity of the frame, the greater safety coefficient was generally chosen considering the safety factors. As a result, size and weight of the frame structure were much bigger. Therefore, lightening the weight of the frame is obviously necessary under the precondition that the usages requested are met. It can save raw materials, reduce energy consumption and decrease environmental pollution.Lightweight design of the frame is the kernel in this thesis. The study is carried out mainly by ANSYS, which is a finite element analysis software.Firstly, analyze the forces and calculate the loads on the frame. Simplifying the forces'analysis according to the theories which are from structure mechanics and theoretical mechanics. Compacting cylinder, extrusion shoe, compacting wheel and extrusion wheel are recognized as research objects. Their effects on the frame are discussed. The value of loads on the corresponding forces areas of the frame are got by theoretical analysis and calculation. And the mechanics model of the frame is built. All the work above lay a foundation for the follow-up finite element simulation.Secondly, strength analysis is carried out with ANSYS. Solid modelling method is used to build a geometric model of the frame in ANSYS. Finite element model of the frame was generated by choosing proper element and meshing method. The stress distribution is found and strength checking is finished by computation. The results show that lightweight design of the frame is feasible.Thirdly, do the stress-test experiment in the working place. Stress curves of the frame are gained by means of DH-5920, which is a dynamic signal test and analysis system, under a certain working condition. Comparing and analyzing the experiment results and the simulation results can get such a conclusion that the simulation results are correct. Finally, lightweight design of the frame is carried out by structure improvement. After a series of attempts with the tools in ANSYS, a optimal lightweight scheme which meets the request is found. This scheme can be regarded as a reference for the frame design.
