Study On The Application Of Risk Assessment Method Domino Effect Considering

A domino effect is observed when an accident in one of the units of an industry causes failure in one or more of the other units, setting off secondary or higher-order accidents. Some foreign community directive has required the assessment of domino effect in the safety analysis. But the link effect to surrounding equipments has not been considered in the methods used in domestic safety assessment of major accidents. Mostly, the evaluation only be made for single equipment, domino effect assessment and analysis doesn't be required in safety assessment reports. Domino effect risk assessment technology theory and method was studyed in this paper. The research of domino effect risk theory was based on the cause of the accident theory. Then the domino effect risk assessment model was established, including: fire radiation model; explosion overpressure model and explosion fragments model. And an systematic quantitative assessment of risk caused by domino effect was improved too. The safety suggestions to avoid domino effect occurrence were brought forward to enhance the inherent safe of installment. Compired with traditional assessment methods, domino effect analysis can forecast second accidents, the probability and the consequents of second accidents can be calculated. And if the preventive measure will be used to avoid the second accidents,the probibality of causing second accidents may reduce. Therefore domino effect analysis should be required for safety evaluation to avoid the major accidents, reduce the heavy losses of enterprises, improve the economic efficiency of enterprises, and ensure a smooth corporate, safe, long-period operation. Tow examples were illustrated in this paper, an assessment of risk caused by domino effect was adopted to find out the escalation vectors and the way cause the accidents propagation. The safety suggestions to avoid domino effect occurrence were brought forward to avoid the second accidents, preventing the surrounding devices, enhancing the inherent safe of installment.
