Micro electronic discharge manufacturing (Micro-EDM) is one of the most important parts in EDM. With the expanding of precise mechanic, MEMS, and optical fields, more and more attentions are paid to micro-EDM.The researches of Micro-EDM become more and more active for its tiny manufacturing stress and easy to realize on commom EDM machine.The problem that the electrode wears down badly is the keystone in the field of micro-EDM. Many scholars had done a lot of research in the field of tool wear compensation. The method of fix-length electrode compensation in micro-EDM is one important result. The compensation of the electrode in the methode is continuous and online. There are more studies about the method in this paper. From the method, we find a way to measure the relative volume wear ratio. There are two adjustments in this paper. And we find how to machine single-layer multi-channel cavity. The details are as follows: 1. By analyzing the influence of relative volume wear ratio in the method of fix-length electrode compensation in micro-EDM, we found a precise method for measuring the relative volume wear ratio. With a approximate relative volume wear ratio, We machined the single cavity using the method of micro-EDM fix-length compensation. After obtaining the bottom contour and its depth, we calculated the precise relative volume wear ratio with the formula. It highly tallied with the real value measured by other precise methods.2. Further studies to the method of fix-length electrode compensation in micro-EDM had several results : First , The bottom discharge gap is not equal to the side discharge gap in micro-EDM . Second , the cross section shape does not change in the same thickness of stratification. So we modify the the method of micro-EDM fix-length compensation by introducing volume modulus, area modulus and residual modulus3. We obtained the residual volume model of single-layer multi-channel cutting in the base of modifying the method of single-layer single-channel fix-length electrode compensation. Then we gave two kinds of technique that cut the residual volume.
