In the present work,the preparation and characterization of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles and magnetic rubber(NR and NR/EPDM) were studied.The effects of different reaction conditions on particle size,particle size' distribution and magnetic properties were stuffed in detail.Furthermore,the Fe3O4 nanoparticles were then incorporated into rubber matrixs to prepare magnetic rubber nanocomposites.The variations in mechanical and magnetic properties of magnetic rubber nanocomposites were evaluated as a function of Fe3O4 nanoparticles loading,Fe3O4 nanoparticles size and different rubber matrixs.The results showed that the magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles have been obtained by the in-situ co-precipitation method.Moverover,the polyethylene glycol(PEG) were adsorbed on the surface of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles,which can effectively protect nanoparticles.The Fe3O4 nanoparticle size and magnetic properties depended on the reaction conditions were also investigated,such as different temperature,molecular weight of PEG,iron concentration, the ratio of Fe2+/Fe3+,NaOH concentration.The properties of magnetic rubber nanocomposites as function of nanoparticles loading were also studied.The results showed that the tensile strength of magnetic rubber firstly increased and decreased as function of the Fe3O4 nanoparticle loading.The elongation at break was decreased and shore hardness was increased with increase in the Fe3O4 nanoparticle loading.The saturation magnetization of magnetic rubber nanocomposites were increased to 300T with increase in nanoparticle loading.The structure of magnetic nanoparticles dopted on rubber matrix was not affected by the preparation process of magnetic rubber nanocomposite according to the X-ray diffraction(XRD).The properties of magnetic rubber nanocomposites filled with different size Fe3O4 nanoparticles were aslo been studied.The results showed that the tensile strength of these composites decreased with increase in nanoparticles size,thereafter it came smooth with the size large than 130 nm.With the nanoparticles size increasing,the saturation magnetization of magnetic rubber nanocomposites were firstly increased and then decreased.The other properties of magnetic rubber nanocomposites,such as heat resistance, ozone resistance and liquid resistance were also studied.The results showed that these properties of blend rubber were higher than NR,and the oil resistance properties were mainly depended on the magnetic nanoparticles.
