In this work, 17 coordination polymers and one super molecule have been designed and synthesized with Mn(II), Zn(II), Pb(II) ions and aromatic carboxylate anions (1,4-benzenedicarboxylate, 4,4'-bipheledicarboxylate, 1,3,5-benzene tricarboxylate, 2-nitro-1 ,4-benzenedicarboxylate, 2-bromo-1 ,4-benzenedicarboxylate, 2,3,5,6-tetramethyl-1,4- benzenedicarboxylate) by solution reactions. The structures and properties of the coordination polymers have also been characterized. The assembly rules have been studied.1. Five coordination polymers consist of Mn (II) and aromatic carboxylates have been synthesized in dmf and ethanol mixed solvents or nmp. With the similar synthesis condition excepting the substitutes of 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate, hexanuclear, trinuclear and metal chain SBUs are obtained, and further more form to infinite 2D or 3D network with benzene rings. The substitutes of ligand play an important role in the coordination polymers.2. Two coordination polymers consist of Zn (II) and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate have been synthesized in dmso with different temperature. The two compounds have different solvent metal ratios, densities and voids.3. Two coordination polymers consist of Zn (II) or Pb(II) and 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate have been synthesized in nmp with the similar synthesis condition excepting the metal ions. Different metal ions with different ions radii, coordinated numbers and coordinated geometry trends result in different metal-organic-frameworks.4. Five coordination polymers containing hexanuclear, trinuclear and metal chain SBUs have been synthesized with Zn(II) and 2-nitro-benzenedicarboxylate or 4,4'-bipheledicarboxylate in organic solvents. After the metals coordinated to the solvents, the coordination number of metals and the stretch directions of ligands all might be changed.5. Three isomorphic coordination polymers consist of zinc and 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate have been synthesized in nmp with different anions; A super molecule has been synthesized in nmp with 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylic acid and zinc bromide or zinc chloride. The influences of anions which acted as coordinated ions and charge counter ions on structures of the coordination polymers have been studied.6. Directed by tetrabutylammonium as the structure-directing reagent, a porous two-dimensional MOF has been synthesized by layer diffusion with tetrabutylammonium 1,4-benzenedicarboxylate into zinc nitrate, pyrazine in dmso solution. Unlike other MOFs synthesized in mild conditions, it contains no hydrogen bond.
