Whether in Europe or in China, high-heeled shoes have a long history. From the perspective of cultural history, high-heeled shoes have been the important part of human's costume culture since they came into being. They not only focus on practical use, but also aesthetic decoration. High-heeled shoes are the temptation that all the women cannot resist through their whole life and play a decisive part in fashion female dress. Women in high-heeled shoes seem to be tall and graceful, which increase their sexy, charming and tempting features. With the development of economy, the material life and metal life have been improved, and high-heeled shoes have become more and more popular. And also with the enhancement of purchasing power, the high-heeled shoes market is gradually growing. Based on the analysis of the development of Chinese and Western shoes, this paper attempts to explore the origin, development, present state, and features of Chinese and Western high-heeled shoes, and analyzes the cultural characteristics of high-heeled shoes.
