Numerical control technology is on basic and kernel ground in the modern machine industry. Based on the current situation of domestic plasma cutting machine, the paper studies the key technology of CAD/CNC integrative software system and developed a plasma cutting system. The results as follows:1,Designed the structure of"PC + Motion Control Card"open control mode of plasma cutting system, Determined mission of function modules in the NC plasma cutting system, developed the communications strategy between PC and Motion Control Card.2,Realized the definition of basic graphic components such as line, arc and NURBS curve. The system included the basic operation like translation, rotation, the array, symmetry and offset. Interface of the dxf document, discreteness of NURBS curve based on the chord errors and the picking-up and disposal of TrueType Fonts were realized in the plasma cutting system.3,Studied the automatic generation technology of cutting path in plasma cutting process. According to the geometry relationship of components, the tree-topology structure of components is built. To satisfy the technological requirement, some segmental lines are added to the cutting path automaticlly.4,Studied the real-time, multi-duty and parallel processing technology in system's application. The interface between PC software and motion control card was designed and the automatic control, manual control, and other major features were realized.
