Colliery electric power protection system ensures that power operates safely and continuously in the mine, also it can transmit the state and data of devices in the mine to control center on the ground reliably and duly. It is convenient for workers gaining and checking field information.Integrated protector is an important part of the colliery electric power protection system. With development for decades, protectors have many types, dissimilar performance and communication physical interfaces. At present, RS-485 and CAN bus interfaces are more popular, but they do not communicate data for long distance. The paper mainly includes two parts for research and implementation of electric power protection system: 1) Research and amelioration GZB-ARM-9110 integrated protector about its problems on power parameter sampling, LCD display and so on. GZB-ARM-9111 integrated protector is implemented. 2) Transform field bus control system to distributed control system based on Ethernet without changing the original network architecture. Considered the feature of mine environment and communications, an embedded protocol converter has developed to resolve the connection of RS485-Ethernet and CAN-Ethernet.In this paper, embedded system design method is adopted in protocol converter's development, which is also named software/hardware co-design to design closely together and in phase. By analyzing functional needs, software/hardware design project has brought forward. On hardware design, converter is adopted LPC2292 as central processing unit. LPC2292 connects with Ethernet controller RTL8019AS, CAN transceiver TJA1050 and so on. Software platform adopts embedded operating systemμC/OS-II. Software design includes reducing TCP/IP protocol, developing drivers of CAN and Ethernet, and designing RTOS tasks.Certified, this system can meet the need of colliery electric power protection, and accomplishes information integration from device layer to management layer.
