Plasma Powder Deposition Manufacturing (PPDM) makes use of material increasing technology and milling technology to manufacture metal part. New-style 5-axis-linkage plasma computerized numeral control (CNC) machine system using computer and PPDM technology can directly manufacture metal part rapidly which have good surface quality and intensity. But actual CNC systems are almost mechanical removing manufacturing facility. Their functions can't meet the demands of combination of material increasing technology and milling technology. And they are not good for second development for their bad expandability. For these reasons, this paper proposes the method that using intelligent Motion Coordinator develops Open CNC system. This system has nice alternation ability, good expandability and convenient second development ability. Users can use it to solve the problem in the Plasma Powder Deposition Manufacturing.The Open CNC system software base on WINDOWS, developing by Microsoft Visual C++6.0 tool with Object Oriented Technology."NC into PC"structure is adopted in the research and data are changed and controlled with PC inside-Bus. The software contains functions of process path layout, NC program creation, process control and real-time monitor. Finally, it will combine with actual process to break the restriction brought by traditional CNC system.This paper mainly discusses Motion Control module of The Open CNC system software. It is also developed by Visual C++6.0 and takes charge of all kinds of motion control functions including zero-return, step, hand-wave, hand-move, translation and running of NC program, tool compensation, backlash compensation and process real-time error monitor.Further more, this paper discusses research on plasma deposition manufacturing parameter and milling tool information system. In order to fit demands of material increasing technology and milling technology, to make users convenient, database of plasma deposition manufacturing parameter and tool information are built in the Open CNC system software. Also, this paper proposes power-speed-change method and inflexion-smoothness method to solve the problem of inflexion pile, NC program select-running method to solve the layer problem in multilayer deposition.Finally, experiment of plasma deposition and milling manufacture are carried out on CNC machine controlled by Open CNC system software. Result shows that the Motion Control module and process method built in this paper are feasible and have good theory and practice value for further research.
