It is very important for the quality of Chinese traditional medicine to preliminarily processing in producing area. Salvia Miltrorrhiza, one of the most widespread Chinese traditional medicine, was usually used for the treatment of cardiocerebrovascular disease. The concentrated granule, a kind of modern TCM slice, has been prompt developed in recent years. It is really difficult for Salvia Miltrorrhiza to prepared concentrated granule because the lipsoluble and water-soluble extracts of Salvia Miltrorrhiza can't be easily sprayed and mixed, moreover, they aren't completely dissolve in water. The concentrated granule of Salvia Miltrorrhiza has been widely applied in clinic and has such advantages as more small granule, readily being decocted active constituents, more convenient usage and so on. However, the kind of slice also has various drawbacks such as more surface area, easily absorbing water and microorganism as well as mingling other substances.The present papers is mainly associated with the advance on TCM slice, the resource distribution, chemical comstituents, medicinal value, famous-region drug and processing procedures in producing area of Salvia Miltrorrhiza. The key questions were further investigated, involving in different types of modern and traditional slices. The suitable process procedure was ascertained for the concentrated granule of Salvia Miltrorrhiza. The detailed information are followed:1. It is necessary for the concentrated granule of Salvia Miltrorrhiza to clear the crude herb material.2. It is considered to be better washing method with the hydraulic giant for short exposure time to water. Washing time depend on the clean washing water.3. The sulphuration has an significant effect on the content of active constituents in crude material and decoction of Salvia Miltrorrhiza. It is advised to control the content of water in crude drug for the prevention from being vertimulate and mouldy.4. The drying method with microwave energy was selected for Salvia Miltrorrhiza, based on different drying method investigation such as drying in the sun, in the shade or in the oven, aridity method by microwave energy or far-infrared radiation and fluid-bed drying.5. Microwave sterilization was shown to be the most suitable measure, based on the effect of various sterilization procedures on active constituents in Salvia Miltrorrhiza, including microwave sterilization, moist heat sterilization and immersion sterilization6. The optimal preparation procedure was definitely determined in terms of test results.
