Tailing dam is one of the three major construction Projects in mining company. Its safety operation in the entire Production Process of mine enterprise has a very important significance,but the key to the safety operation of tailing dam is the stability of tailing dam.In this paper, introduces the study on the safety of the Tailing dam at home or abroad. At the same time, it also indicates the main content and significance of this thesis, introduces the Wuhan Iron Ore Mining Company Jin Shan Dian iron mine tailings dam project profile and on-site investigation, its operating conditions carried out a detailed inspection, introduces the theory about the tailings dam stability calculation of the relevant, including the ultimate balance method, numerical simulation, uncertainty methods, etc.According to the tailings dam's geological survey reports ,selects five profiles and determines materials calculated parameters, with the present application of geotechnical engineering in the broader GEO-SLOPE software tools, to 60 m, 75m, 100m three levels under the conditions of stability of the analysis respectively, depicts the slip surface, Calculates the minimum safety factor. Has a clearer understanding about the tailings dam present and the future of the security situation. Then on the basis of this, propose some measures to reinforce and increase the capacity.Does some Displacement Monitoring on the tailings dam since one year ago, Summed up the results of previous monitoring and use of finite element software SIGMA for the dam stress and displacement analysis, the results and the actual monitoring results match.
