Study On Living Behavior Of The Elderly And Senile Furniture Design

This paper is based on the living behavior, furniture's function demand of old persons and personalization design. There are four parts—physiological and psychological characteristic research, living behavior research, analysis of furniture's function and furniture design in the research. The following is main conclusion:There are above 90% of the old people above 60-year-old have sight obstacle, the obstacle of acting and the consciousness obstacle etc. the old people are grouping into three types-- the healthy elderly, the handicapped elderly walking by crutch or wheelchair and the elderly that need tendance according to obstacle characteristic and the degree of furniture correlation, the proportion of them in the survey is 19.5%, 46.7% and 33.8%. The demand of furniture of old people and nursing staff should be considered for senile furniture design.According to analysis of the behavior living and function of use of bedroom furniture, living room furniture, dining room furniture, kitchen furniture, toilet furniture and other furniture, the old people spend the most of time (35.4% of their time) in the bedroom, the furniture of maximal frequency of use is bed, the function is not only sleep, but also eating and excretion to some old people having the obstacle of acting.Rest home is the point of the research as place for providing the aged. There are third kinds of old people, so interior space arrangement and furniture design as important elements seriously affect the quality of life of old people, the furniture demand of disabled old people is emphasized in the paper. Kitchen meeting needs of seating wheel chair old people sufficiently is set up for old people cooking food by themselves.In order to change theory into practice, design senile furniture on the basis of the research.
