Along with acceleration of urbanization and implementation of sustainable development, urban management and urban water environment protection are gradually appearing on the agenda. To beautify the city and construct urban water environment, many cities realignmented some of polluted or slightly polluted urban rivers or rivers flowing through the city. Configuring with scenery, landscape rivers are formed.Water resources are considered inexhaustible and always available in the history of domestic and foreign water quality of rivers, but with the development of society and the advances in technology, global freshwater resources are subject to partly pollution to different degrees. Water resources crisis is seriously threating social development and human health. The factors affecting water quality of landscape river are gradually studied and all kinds of measures are taken to reduce the pollution of water bodies at home and abroad. However, owning to the unique characteristics of scenic rivers and some artificial controlling factors, a practical and effective solution has not been brought into the world so far, and the technology especially in water treatment is still in exploratory stage. Therefore, the research on water quality of landscape river water is a subject with great value. It not only can be used for the prediction and assessment of water quality and for the provision of reliable scientific basis for water quality management, planning, and optimum decision-making of treatment technology, but also for the provision of feasibility study for various management measures. The research can play an important role with several effects.A preliminary understanding of water quality of landscape rivers in China and abroad has been achieved by the investigation in some landscape rivers, and the control practices of landscape rivers have also been investigated. Water quality and pollution sources of urban secondary river have been investigated and analyzed. Strategies, methods and reasonably effective treatment measures have been put forward for the improvement and conservation of water quality of secondary river from eight aspects of speeding up the transformation of drainage network, strengthening the water sources management, improving the utilization rate of renewable water, draining rainwater with the use of sewage pumping station, increasing aeration for the realization of water cycle, using biological treatment used to purify water quality, dredging sludge of rivers periodically, and strengthening secondary river management.With the gradual improvement of city taste, environment beautification and urban water environment restoration become the future development trend in many cities, and the restoration and maintenance of urban landscape river will be a problem faced by many cities. Tianjin is also in great need of a set of reasonable programs to improve and maintain water quality of secondary river.
