As the extensive application of nonferrous metal and the development of special casting,expands the range of application of squeeze casting day by day.Squeeze casting technology has been invovled in many production fields,such as the manufacture of car and motorcycle,electrical home appliances industry,etc.At present,parts like automobile air conditioner shell(including front cover,back cover,shell)in the shape of disc and bowl most used the pressure csating to produce.But there were many problems.The squeeze casting technics has overcome the shortage to some extent.Considering the structure form and performance requirations of the automobile air conditioner shell,suiting for charging from the centre sprue runner, short distance of filling mould by liquid flow,good effect of exhausting,easy to form the parts,thus proposed adopting the biparting surface mold for squeeze casting to produce.And put forward the subject to design a series of biparting surface molds for squeeze casting.The paper discussed these aspects as follow;(1)Structure character of biparting surface mold for squeeze casting.Compared to single surface mold,it added one middle board which could move in a short distance,and adopted charging from the centre sprue runner.Biparting surface is convenient to take out the pouring system between the middle board and the platen;(2)Mechanism design of biparting surface mold for squeeze casting.It mainly included the connection pattern of the middle board,the way to unload the material, releasing core mechanism,parting mechanism,exhaust ing groove,flooding groove and the warm-up and cooling system of mold;(3)How to realize the abruption between excess stock and the downsprue;(4)How to realize certain distance parting to take out the downsprue easily and be convenient for pouring the metal liquid smoothly;(5)How to realize the cast knockout and how to design the structure of mold for squeeze casting according to the part structure character. Research results proved that we could get a optimized mold for squeeze casting suiting for charging from the centre sprue runner through the research on structure character of mold for squeeze casting.It was biparting surface mold for squeeze casting.On the basis,we can design different structures of series biparting surface mold for squeeze casting,and pointed out the characters and the suited parts to insure that they are reasonable used in the production.Through the research,extended the application range of squeeze casting technics further,expanded the mold kind, ultimately brought the mold for squeeze casting into a fast development.
