Polynary iodides possess a very diverse and interesting structure chemistry and exhibit useful physical and chemical properties which have potential applications in modern technologies,and its synthesis is becoming an active area of solid state chemistry.In the synthesis,we explore solution synthesis of the new iodides with novel structures and properifies with an aim to enrich the iodide structures chemistry,and develop effective synthesis routes.The important effect factors of the synthesis such as the starting materials and ratios of the reactants,cations,solvents,temperature have been studied in this research.Several new iodides have been obtained successfully.The compounds M(en)3Ag2I4(M=Zn,Ni,Cd),Cd2Ag2I6(2,2'-bipydine)4 have been obtained with highly purity and quality.The route is easily handled.The compound Cd2Ag2I6(2,2'-bipydine)4 was synthesized in solution and characterized by X-ray single crystal diffraction.The compound crystallizes in the Monoclinic,P2(1)/n space group,a=8.9170(6)(?),b=21.5098(15)(?),c=12.8527(9)(?),α=90°,β=94.374(4)°,γ=90°,Z=4. It consists of[Ag2I6]4-cluster and[Cd(2,2'-bipydine)2]2+cations.The compound Zn (en)3Ag2I4 crystallizes in the hexagonal,P6(3)space group,a=9.0550(6)(?),b=9.0550(6)(?),c =14.4468(19)(?),γ=120°,Z=7.The compound comprises of etrahedral AgI4 linked by I- to form three dimentional framework structures.The Zn(en)3 cations located in channels.Isostructural M(en)3Ag2I4(M=Ni,Cd)were also synthesized under the same conditions.Theses compounds were also investigated by powder XRD,SEM-EDS,IR,TG analyses.
