The damage mechanism and service performance of the unfired Al2O3—SiC—C refractory bricks used on hot metal ladles and torpedo ladles are described in this paper.With this subject,properties of the unfired Al2O3—SiC—C refractory brick were studied by means of physical and chemical testing and optical microscope and its service performance analysed through antioxidation,index of hot metal erosion, slagging resistance,and other erosion tests.And so,the damage mechanism of unfired Al2O3—SiC—C refractory brick in the course of service was deeply probed into.At the same time the function of such major materials as high-alumina,carborundum and carbon in the unfired Al2O3—SiC—C refractory brick product and the effect of various additives and production process on the product were approached through analysis of a mass of test data.In addition,the rational matching of raw materials in the unfired Al2O3—SiC—C refractory brick was further studied.The paper also discusses the working conditions of unfired Al2O3—SiC—C refractory brick product and their effect upon the properties of the brick.This subject is studied in order to bring into full play their respective functions of the raw materials under different working environments,perfect the properties of unfired Al2O3—SiC—C refractory bricks by rational matching to lengthen the service life so as to meet the requirements of the development in metallurgical processes.
