Carbon Fiber Reinforce Composite (CFRC) has been used widely in the aviation, spaceflight, automobile and other areas. As an advanced reinforced composite using form, it's necessary to implement secondary process for complex component, such as cutting and grinding. CFRC is one typical kind of difficult-to-machine composite. For instance, the dynamic characteristics of it in each direction are different and the strength between different layers is low, it is easy to occur delamination and avulsion under the force of cutting while machining.In recent years, many defense industry enterprises are drilling and grinding CFRC by bench or air drill, most of these are manual operations. In these way, we face low efficiency, high cost and bad processing quality. In order to solve the problem of difficult-to-machine of CFRC for domestic aerospace industry, our team researched and designed the Carbon Fiber Reinforce Composite NC Drilling and Grinding Equipment.Carbon Fiber Reinforce Composite NC Drilling and Grinding Equipment is a three coordinate system, which is made up of machine and control system. The control of spindle move track is accomplished by three axes' interpolation. The high speed spindle drive knives to drill and grind workpiece. Control system is the key of whole system. Its duty is harmonizing the system work. This paper researched the control system of device mainly.According to machining precision, craftwork complexity, the number of servo axes and other basically requirement, adding to performance-to-price ratio of NC system, It suggested to use Siemens Sinumerik 802D NC system to complete the control function. This system include panel control unit, input and output unit, machine control panel and servo driver Simodrive 611UE. This paper designed the main circuit and relevant control circuit of device. Considering the characteristic of this device, it expatiated the initialization course, set the main parameters of NC system, debugged model spindle and coded PLC program of device movement control. To ensure device's safety running, the protection system have been designed, such as overrun protection and dust defend system. By taking Matlab Simulink simulation for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor servo system, parameters have been optimized to ensure the system has a better dynamic capability. This paper built a debug software of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor servo driver by Matlab GUI.By inspection the precision of Drilling and Grinding Equipment, it find that its precision is higher than requirement. Using this device to machine a passel of carbon fiber reinforce composite workpieces, effect show that Drilling and Grinding Equipment has better machining quality and precision than manual, and can be used to solve the machining difficult of this type composite(This device has been handed over in May 20,2008).
