With the fast development of Chiese economy and growing number of vehicle, there come two critical problems concerning the shortage of petroleum and environmental emission. Biodiesel, regard as one of the clean recyable energy with low emission is capable of solving the two problems. In the context of steel industry allocation adjustment and the increasing demand of import iron ore transportation, the thesis is to probe into our country's Import Iron Ore Port Network layout. The thesis selects two different types of biodiesel and probes into the planting, manufacturing and application phases. Based on the principle of life cycle assessment, a life cycle primary energy for China is established. By analyzing on primary energy and related fuels and chemicals, the thesis work out the life cycle primary energy consumption, criterion emissions and greenhouse emissions of rapeseed fuel and jatropha curcas fuel. Some comparison of biodiesel and diesel are carried out and finally the economic cost is discussed for both types of biodiesel.Compared with diesel pathway, biodiesel has advantages not only on the life cycle fossil fuel consumption but also on the dramatic deduction on the consumption of petroleum by 91.3%. On the enviroment aspect, criterion emissions and greenhouse emissions significantly reduced compared to diesel. Particulary, greenhouse emission of jatropha curas fuel and rapeseed fuel drop by 57.5% and 48.0% separately. The economic analysis shows that the price is sensitive on raw materials. While rapeseed fuel could already ensures a 18.1% financial inner income ratio, jatropha curas fuel is still wariting for the cut on the cost for profit.Above all, the overall LCA profile of biodiesel is well balanced and offers advantages both on the enviroment pulution and energy consumption.
