| Objective and subjective methods were applied to study the thermal comfort of soybean and cotton blended fabric.Several knitted fabrics made of different ratio of soybean fiber/cotton blended fiber were chosen as samples, fabric made of cotton and modal fiber were also chosen to make contrast. Water absorbing, wicking, wetting and water permeate ability tests were carried out. Analysis had been carried out between results of tests on samples in different fiber and samples with different blending ratio of soybean/fiber. The results show that soybean fiber can effectively improve the water transfer ability of cotton fabric. But with some reasons on dyeing and finishing, the water transfer ability of soybean fiber fabric in this study is not good, the 50/50 soybean fiber/ cotton blended fabric has the best transfer ability of liquid water, while the soybean fiber material has the best transfer ability of gas water.50/50 soybean fiber/ cotton blended fabric, soybean fiber fabric and cotton fabric were chosen as samples in wear test. Wear test consisted by objective tests on skin temperature and relative humidity of subject and subjective apprise on the thermal comfort of subject. Subjective apprise has a intimate correlation with the skin temperature and relative humidity. The data of skin temperature and relative humidity, especially the relative humidity of skin is the main factor effect on thermal comfort. With the lowest data of relative humidity during experiment, 50/50 soybean fiber/ cotton blended fabric has the best thermal comfort according to the result of subjective apprise.If the fabric of clothes can't transfer heat and sweat in time, the subjects may have uncomfortable feelings, according to the analysis on water transfer property how to contribute on thermal comfort, the main factors influencing the thermal comfort of fabrics are wicking ability and wetting ability. When choosing clothes worn in sweating condition, the liquid water transfer ability of fabric should be took into consideration. |
