ChemiLuminescence(CL) is the emission of light after excitation of a fluorescent molecule by a chemical reaction. Among a variety of CL's, PeroxyOxalate ChemiLuminescence(POCL) is well noted for its high efficiency and large intensity, and therefore is widely used and intensively studied. POCL system can produce chemiluminescent light of numerous colors by using different fluorescence agent. Chemical light on the market mostly select POCL system for chemiluminescent source because of its convenient and safety.Six PeroxyOxalate esters were synthesized in this paper. Some effects on synthesis were discussed. The traditional process is ameliorated. The yield was improved.The synthesis of bis(2,4,6-trichloro phenyl) oxalate ester based on phenol through two steps was described. The overall yield was 76%.Starting from 3,5-dichlorosalicylic acid, bis(6-butoxycarbonyl-2,4-dichlorophen- yl) oxalate ester and bis(6-(3'-methylbutoxycarbonyl)-2,4-dichlorophenyl) oxalate ester were synthesized through esterification and chlorination with oxalyl chloride in 68%,63% overall yield separately.Starting from 3,5,6-trichlorosalicylic acid, bis(6-butoxycarbonyl-2,4,5-trichloro- phenyl) oxalate ester, bis(6-pentoxycarbonyl-2,4,5-trichlorophenyl) oxalate ester and bis(6-(3'-methylbu-toxycarbonyl)-2,4,5-trichlorophenyl) oxalate ester were synthesized through esterification and chlorination with oxalyl chloride in 55%,39%,45% overall yield separately.The method of TLC analysis on reactions was studied except the synthesis of bis(2,4,6-trichloro phenyl) oxalate ester. All intermediates and target products were primarily identified by the test of the melting point. The structures of the target products were identified by IR and NMR.Five POCL systems, made up of five PeroxyOxalate esters, were studied in this paper. Various factors affecting the light life and the light intensity such as peroxyoxalate ester, fluorescence agent, catalyst or inhibitor, oxidant, solvent and proportion of two components were also discussed. The optimum component formulations were presented.The red fluorescence agent was rhodamine B. The orange fluorescence agent was anthracence derivative. The yellow fluorescence agent was 1,8-dichloro-9,10-bis(phenyle-thynyl) anthracence. The blue fluorescence agent was 2-chlo-ro-bis(4-methoxy) anthracence.The olivine fluorescence agent was 1- chloro-9,10-bis- (phenyle-thynyl) anthracence.All of the chemiluminescent systems can emission light efficiently and smoothly. The highest relative intensity was during 90~1000.The light life was during 3~44 hours which are suitable for chemical light.
