Clearing Plots Of Three Gorges's Dangerous Wastes In Chongqing Province

Great social and economic profits will be brought with the finish of the famous Three Gorges project. However, many districts will be flooded and many factories must be moved, so the problem of environmental safty be widely focused on. Because of the long-term development of industry, so many solid wastes were produced in Three Gorge Area, including industrial wastes,medical wastes,municipal solid wastes, and so on. While the water level arrivving, properly treating solid wastes is considered as an important task of building Three Gorge Area and protecting environment. The work of cleaning wastes of the second term in Chongqing area has finished in December, 2002 and was accepted by the National govement in April, 2003. At present , with the rising of the level of the Three Gorge Resevior, the dangerous wastes of the third and the forth term similarly need be cleared. If treated improperly, the wastes will result in huge problems of public safty and environmental protection.With the approaching of time limit of the third sluicing plan, the work of cleaning is urgent.Based on statistics and analysis of the Evironmental Protection Departments, the distribution,species and quantities of danger wastes are roundly knowed. Danger wastes are classfied with serious danger wastes and average danger wastes.Serious danger wastes are comprised with pesticide,danger chemical materials,mineral oil,deposing medicine,cyanogen wastes and so on. Others are average danger wastes.The ways of burning and stockpiling are advised in the process of treatment by referring to techonogies and managing ways of treating solid wastes at home and abroad. Some certificated companies are regarded as burning departments. Based on the national standard, some manipulating methods of packing and transportation are regulated. By reviewing on the spot, a detailed treatment scheme was designed according to the status,species and characteristic of different region and danger wastes. Some can be burned on the spot, and some can be stockpiled to be treated later in some areas. Some serious danger chemical things were disposed specially.Some accidents might arise in the process of treatment were considered in advance, so some ways and measures were brought to resolve these accidents. Based on the anticipated price of the region,price index and increasing quotiety in past , the whole expenditure of cleaning in the Three Gorges Area and detailed charges were estimated. The investment of the second and the third term cleaning was 8.1698 million, that for the forth term was 1.4434 million and treating Fuling chromic residue of the second term cost 17.4166 million. Furthermore,the schedule of cleaning was also designed.
