With the development of economy and urbanization in China, air pollution in cities is becoming more and more serious. This situation has called out great attention. It is of great value either in theory or in reality to research the detection methods of air pollutants and establish top-level air quality monitoring systems.After Detection methods of the air pollutants and the branch part of air quality monitoring system are researched, air quality monitoring system of branch station is designed and developed in this thesis. The main research is described as follows:(1) Design and implement data acquisition system. Air quality measuring instruments connect the datalogger by a multifunctional serial card while meteorological equipments do the datalogger after the process of A/D conversion.(2) Design and implement data statistical and report system. Use suming or averaging method to make hour or day or month or year report forms.(3) Design and implement network monitor and control system. Monitor and control remotely instruments, involving the view of instant data and warning infomation, calibration and diagnostics of instruments.(4) Design and implement privilege management system. Different users have different privilege and these users are classified as Createor, Administrator and User.(5) Design and implement communication system. The network of the system can transfer data by many ways such as Ethernet, modem, radio-communication etc. Communication protocol complys with Data Transmission Protocol of Zhejiang Environmental Monitoring System and the validity, reliability and security of data transfer are guaranted.(6) In order to make the manipulation more convenient, the human-machine-interface in specific ways for different users is designed.The system has successfully implemented the initial requirement and shown great advantages in validity, reliability, security and efficiency. It has been in use in many cities and towns in Zhejiang province. The Air Quality Monitoring System has received good comments from many aspects and passed the check-and-accept of the users.
