Expert System is one of the most important components in AI field. At present, ES is mostly implemented by production system. The representation of product rule is the basic method for expressing experts' knowledge. In the paper knowledge representation by product rule and frame is used. At the same time, the author put forward idea of dynamic extensible repository, which improves traditional static repository, solving the problem of knowledge explosion in combination and inefficient matching in searching rules.The study in the paper is based on the background of methane threat elimination knowledge. In order to eliminate the influence of human factors on correctness, veracity and scientific reasonableness in the work of methane threat elimination in coalfaces, the aithor put forward the idea of development of expert system for methane threat elimination in coalfaces based on expansile repository based on experts' knowledge and the methane treatment methods obtained in practice, with the help of expert system principals and object-oriented methods. It's proved that the system operation is stable and it's helpful for methane threat control in practice and represented certain level of experts after its application in coal mine.The paper consists of 5 parts. In the first part is introduction to ES and methane threat eliminination technology, the idea of development of the system is educed; in the second part the concepts of knowledge, knowledge acquisition and knowledge representation are discussed; in the third part the technology, methods and steps of ES development are represented; the forth part is the key one of the study work, which includes 6 items: (1) the ways of knowledge acquisition for the system, (2) the method of knowledge representation for the system, (3) the development of inferring engine for the system, (4) the design of basic parameters database, (5) the design of explaniation mechanism, (6) the system realization; in the fifth part the example of application of Expert System for Methane Threat Elimination in Coalfaces Based on Expansile Repository is represented.
