Due to the insufficiency in structure and heat-insulating of existing tentssuch as the structure is too single to assemble freely, maintenance is not easyenough and heat loses quickly, a new multiple air-cushion structure ispresented. The structure has been made and some of the properties likeheat-insulating and flexibility retention were tested. The main content andconclusions are as following.Properties of several kinds of yarns, base fabrics, coating agents andadhesives were tested and compared. According to the results and analysis,optimum material and process for choke tents is determined. Polyester orpolyamide fiber which has high strength and excellent properties was selectedas the base fabric of the multiple aircushions. By comparison, Polyester fiberis better in ultraviolet resistance. The fabric has the plain weave. The edgesealing can be the 2/2 rib weave or reed twill weave as the connection of thedouble layer air-pocket. 2/2 varied rib weave is more suitable than exteriorand interior exchange weave for coated choke air-pocket.Coating process parameters were selected according to the orthogonalexperimental design. Among the parameters, temperature has significantinfluence to tensile strength of nylon fabric; film thickness has significantinfluence to tensile strength of polyester fabric; tensile rupture elongation andstrength has the positive linear correlation after the fabric has been coated. Baking time and temperature are not important to tensile strength andelongation. Film thickness and the quantity of the glue infiltrated to the fabrichave some influence to tensile properties. If the quantity of the glue infiltratedto the fabric too much, the strength and the elongation will decrease. So thedetermination of glue weight references to the thickness and the areal densityof the base fabric.Mechanical properties of the coated fabric were tested and analysed, theresults indicated that, both the tensile strength and elongation of the fabricincrease after the fabric was coated. The influence of coating to warp and weftare different. In the coating parameters, blade direction, blade type and bladepower depend on the angle of the blade and the fabric. Because of thepenetration of coating agent, tearing strength decreases after the fabric wascoated. As for the light fabric with high strength and high density, the tearingstrength increases after the fabric was coated. Bursting strength increases afterthe fabric has been coated. The experiment proves that bursting starts fromthe position which has biggest deformation and lowest strength. As for thefabric with a certain thickness, bursting strength will decrease when thecoating weight increases to a certain level. A high strength fabric can beobtained if the coating thickness is controlled properly. The bending rigidityof the coated fabric is bigger than that of the uncoated fabric. Since thecoating direction is along the warp yams, more PU penetrate to the weft yams,the change of weft bending rigidity is bigger than warp one.The results of connection methods and formability indicated that, it isfeasible to use chloroprene rubber adhesives to bond fabrics. A clean bondingsurface should be kept during the bonding process. Fluidity of the adhesivesshould be guaranteed to increase infiltration so as to improve the bondingstrength. Lap joint bonding is determined as the bonding mode. There iscritical value of bonding length and the value is between 2-3cm.Since the application performances of composite structure are important, the performances of air-pocket with multi-region were tested after integralforming. The gas loading of the air-pocket is between 0.4-0.6Mpa. Theheat-insulating property improves after the fabric was coated. Theheat-insulating rate of single layer fabric improves 31.795ï¼…after coating; theheat-insulating rate of the air-pocket improves 12.99ï¼…after gas loading andthe weight almost has no change. After gas loading, the air-pocket willmaintain a certain buoyant force for some time.
