With the people increasing unceasingly for the components accuracy request, the cutting tool obtains its importance by daily promotion in the processing industry. It is more and more important to the cutting tools for the check-out facility request, the ordinary optical projection with the range estimate has been already unable to satisfy the need of the automation production. Based on this kind of demand situation present, and with the great development of the computer vision technology, one kind of cutting tool measuring system based on the CCD has been breeding. CCD is divided into two kinds generally by the difference of itself: Area array CCD and linear CCD with the mechanically-driven device system. In these two kinds, considering from the precision and the cost, people are tended to choose the latter gradually. Composing the mechanically-driven device system, multi-purpose measurement and control unit and PC into an integer, the new direction of linear CCD system is measuring data message with the fast sampling and storing data processing.The chaser measuring system is constituted by two sub-systems: PC processing subsystem and multi-purpose measurement and control unit subsystem divided into signal acquisition and the mechanically-driven device. CCD image signal acquisition completes some fixedly crosswise to gather the longitudinal data. The mechanically-driven device completes the cutting tool crosswise earthen pot unceasingly the migration, at the same time, using the diffraction grating sensor to measure the step value of the mechanically-driven device, and finally coordinates to complete the data acquisition of the whole system. Data obtained is carried through USB on supreme position machine according to each crosswise spot for processing and displaying.At the time of completing the chaser measuring instrument theory proof, this paper proposed one kind method on realizing the chaser high-accuracy survey based on the USB connection and the linear CCD multi-purpose measurement and control unit. The primary coverage and the achievement of this paper are followed as below:1st, Understanding the present situation and the tendency of cutting tool detect, the paper completes the overall concept design of the chaser measuring instrument, including the measuring instrument system design, the module division, the multi-purpose observation and control unit project design as well as the system working pattern design2nd, Understanding the measuring principle of linear CCD, the paper completes the Linear CCD-TCD1501D actuation succession design by Complex Programmable Logic Device (CPLD).3rd, In order to enhance measuring accuracy of the system, the paper first uses high speed ADC-TLC5510 to complete the CCD signal high speed gathering, and the data buffer is 8K RAM-CY6264 after the linear CCD output high speed image signal.4th, In the multi-purpose measurement and control unit ,the whole control (including linear CCD sequential control, data acquisition, transmission) is integrated in CPLD, enhanced the system integration rate.5th, The buffer data is obtained in the GPIF way, and uploaded to PC by the USB interface, and the goal is to strengthen the data transmission the speed and enhances the field work efficiency.6th, Gathering data is simply processed and user interface software is visually established to display measurement result.
