Reformatsky-type reaction induced by magnesium in water medium was executed for the first time. The reaction was carried out successfully withα-bromoacetone and aromatic aldehyde in the present of the magnesium in Aqueous Media, the yield is good. The study expands the scope of C-C bond coupling reactions in water. Two unknown compounds were synthesized and characterized by IR, 1H NMR and the element analysis.The mechanism of single electron transfer(SET) was proposed through the analysis.The compound 3-Hydroxy-1-phenyl-3-(3, 4, 5-trimethoxy-phenyl)propan- one is characterized both by spectral methods and X-ray single crystal diffraction. The weak interactions in the crystals is discussed.
