The Assessment Of Wetland Ecosystem Based On RS Image

The assessment of wetland ecosystem health is a new field of wetland assessment. It is synthesis evaluation to the situation of wetland ecosystem. The assessment of wetland ecosystem health makes us in a better position to understand the situation of its ecological system and functions, the pressure the system confronts and its corresponding response so as to provide evidence for the formulation measures with regard to the protection and recovery of wetland ecological system.Dagu River is important water source area, as well as the estuary wetland of Dagu River is habitat for lots of rare precious and endangered birds. It is abundant in biodiversity. With the Speedy development of social economy, the contradiction is more and more conspicuous between the limited land resources and the sprawl of population 0and Urban. Most of the estuary wetland is exploited and the wetland area is reduced increasingly. The environment of wetland is interfered or broken. So it is emergent to protect wetland resources. For reasonable exploitation and protection the wetlands resources, It is closely related with improvement of the people's living standards and the sustainable development of social economy.On the basis of summarizing the research of wetland ecosystem health evaluation achieved by scholars from home and abroad, this paper takes the estuary wetland of Dagu River as a case to assess the wetland ecosystem health in this area. First, this paper analyzes the features of the nature environment, social economic conditions and the situation of wetland resources of the estuary of Dagu River. Then by applying RS and GIS technology and mathematics methods, the paper distills the wetland information from TM image and builds a set of comparatively complete wetland ecosystem health evaluation index system to assess the estuary wetland ecosystem health of Dagu River. Finally the paper analyzes the results of the assessment and put forwards some strategies and suggestions to protect and improve the wetland environment.
