A series of metal complexes supported by N-aryloxo-β-ketoimine were synthesized, including alkali metal complexes, lanthanide complexes, and aluminum complexes. Among of them, some complexes were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis. We also tested the catalytic activity of some N-aryloxo-β-ketoimine complexes for the polymerization ofε-caprolactone.1. Reactions of 4-(2-hydroxy-5-methyl-phenyl)imino-2-pentanone (L1H2) and 4-(hydroxyl-5-tertbutyl-phenyl)imino-2-pentanone (L2H2) with NaH, respectively, gave complexes (L1)4[Na(THF)]8 (1) and (L2)4[Na(THF)]8 (2). Both complexes were characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis and 1H NMR determination. X-ray crystal structures determination showed that they were octanuclear complexes.2. Reactions of L1H2 and (ArO)3Ln(THF) (ArO = OC6H2-But2-2,6-Me-4) in a 1:1 molar ratio gave complexes [L1Ln(OAr)(THF)]2 [Ln = Nd (3), Sm (4), Yb (5),Y (6)] from THF. These complexes were characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, 1H NMR for complex 6, and crystal structure determination, in the case of complex 3. Similar reactions of L2H2 and (ArO)3Ln(THF) gave complexes [L2Ln(OAr)(THF)]2 [Ln=Nd (7), Sm (8), Tb (9), Dy (10), Yb (11), Y (12)] from toluene. All these complexes were characterized by IR spectroscopy, elemental analysis, and melting point determination. X-ray crystal structures of complexes7-10 and 12 were determined. The stability of the crystals and the solubility of complexes7-12 were improved compared with those of complexes 3-6. It was found that complexes 7, 8, and 12 can initiate the polymerization of...
