Have been studying on the rubber reinforcing techniques and the relative mechanism for many years, our laboratory put forward a structural model and designing thought of rubber ideal filler (IF).In this paper, the effect factors on the stability of the crosslinked PS emulsion were studied, which involved composition ratio of emulsifier and initiator, reactive temperature, velocity of stirrer and the amount of crosslinking agent, etc. Besides the effect of the amount of emulsifier, reactive temperature, reactive time on the morphology of the latex particles was studied. Then the monodisperse PS nano-particles were filled in styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), the results indicated that all filled composites improved modulus and fracture behaviour compared to unfilled rubber. In my study, at a filler concentration of 30 wt% and the amount of DVB of 20% wt%, crosslinked PS particles exhibited the best reinforcing effect on SBR.In order to adapt vulcanization process of rubber, a-MS and AN were used as the main monomer in emulsion copolymerization.
