As the aged patients' ussally have their most teeth lost, the removable denture becomes their only choice. Low alveolar ridge can be found in most aged patient for their long time without teeth. In the case, even with a perfect fabricated denture, the retention and compatity of the denture is often disappointed. Aged patient often has other oral problems at the same time, such as salivary gland atrophy, decreasing of saliva secretion, oral mucosa not elastic as before, caries of the residual teeth, et al. Denture adhesives (DA) are dental drugs available over the counter. It can promote the retention and stabilization of the removable denture by producing adherence the denture and supporting tissue. For the patients with a low alveolar ridge and hard to obtain enough retention from the denture, the denture adhesive could be an effective means.
