| Recently, With the developing of economy and population, more and more water demand in Taohuajiang Valley of Guilin. Meantime, the ecological system of the valley is getting worse which is resulted from environmental management getting behind, especially the ecological environment is seriously threatened. Therefore, the distribution of water in both country economy and ecological environment and water reuse became the main restrict factor of economy development in Taohuajiang valley. To find out the theory bases and technology method of reviveing the ecological environment problem, promoting the distribution and effectly reuse of water in the valley, improving the ecological environment quality, the study of eco- environment water demand in Taohuajiang Valley psssess theory value and application significance. This paper studied the connotation and calculation method of eco- environment water demand in Taohuajiang Valley, exerted the eco- environment data to study the eco- environment water demand. The main conclusion is:â‘ Analyzing and sumaring the abroad and domestic study of eco- environment water demand, for example: the conception, classification, calculation method and main charactenstic of eco- environment water demand.â‘¡Based on the eco- environment function, confirmed the constitution of eco- environment water demand(including the inside of the watercourse.and the ecological water demand of the outside of the watercourse such as ecological water demand of economical crop, of lake or reservoir and of cities.).â‘¢Analyzing the physical geography, hydrography, economy characteristic and water resource status, getting the proper calculation method. The Tennant applied to the eco- environment water demand of inside of the watercourse, woodland minmum eco- environment water demand calculation method applied to the eco- environment water demand of woodland, water ration method applied to farmland the eco- environment water demand, water evaporation method applied to the reservoir eco- environment water demand.â‘£The ecological water demand amount of the inside of the watercourse is 128million m3 which is 35% of average yearly runoff of the river, and the ecological water demand amount of the outside of the watercourse is 177million m3 which is about average yearly runoff of the river.
