Eutrophication is a serious problem globally. There are 30%~40% of the lakes and reservoirs around the world influenced by eutrophication in different degrees, which has deeply limited the sustainable development of economy and society. In China, the condition of eutrophication in big rivers, lakes and reservoirs, become more and more serious in decades. Because of eutrophication, water blooms break out, and toxigenic cyanobacteria proliferate and produce cyanotoxins, which threaten the public health, especially microcystins produced by some species of cyanobacteria will cause acute or chronic disease, even cancer. For establishing an alarm system of microcystin pollution, the environmental factors, planktonic algae, toxigenic cyanobacteria and microcystin were surveyed continuously in drinking water resource, Huayuankou conservation pool, in Zhengzhou. Multiple regression was analyzed among algae cell density, cyanobacteria cell density, microcystin concentration and environmental factors. The methods of isolation and purification of cyanobacteria were established in our laboratory, for carrying out further research on toxigenic cyanobacteria and microcystin.Materials and methods1. Two sampling sites were chosed at the entrance and outlet of Huayuankou conservation pool. From March, 2005 to January, 2006, 15 and 11 samples were taken...
