This thesis includes a review and a research section. In the review, the principle, types and characteristics of luminescence analysis are introduced and the applications and developments of the luminescence analysis in environmental pollutants are extensively presented. In the research section, the contents of mercury in the waters, sediment, soil and precipitation (including rain and snow) samples collected in the district of Xi'an (Shannxi Province, China) were examined, furthermore, the pollution circumstance of mercury in this district was also assessed. And a novel chemiluminescence (CL) method for the evolution of the DNA damage induced by the chemical pollutants of formaldehyde and acetaldehyde was developed.Environmental pollution has been a hot topic in the world. The hazardous substances have much effect on the atmosphere, soil, water, animals and plants. Destroy of ecosystem is called as environmental pollution. The reason induced the environmental pollution has physical, chemical, biological and other aspects. And the environmental pollution caused by the chemical materials was about 80%~90%. The environment has been highly destroyed with the industrial development in the world, and the pollutant discharged in the environment is becoming more and more. The environmental pollutants includes organic substance, inorganic substance, microorganism, while the majority exist in the atmosphere, soil, water, waste and organism, threaten in the human health and environment. Therefore, development of the efficient methods for the evolution of environmental pollution from the chemicals is very important because the concentration of the chemicals in the water, soil and atmosphere is much low. In the environmental analysis, luminescence technology is one of powerful technologies because it has a highly sensitivity and also combines with gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, capillary electrophoresis. In the review, the applications of luminescence analysis including the fluorescence, chemiluminescence, electrogenerated chemiluminescence and bioluminescence in environmental pollutants are extensively presented. The research section includes two sections. In the first section, the mercury content in the water and soil samples was determined with Cold Vapor Atomic Fluorescence...
