Geographic Information System (GIS) has been applied in agriculture forestMilitary medicine, manipulation, and land resource management, and bring therapid development in all kinds of fields, the application of GIS inPetrochemical is just on the way. It is very difficult to manage the huge dataand relative attribution information by drawing when you facing the complexitypetrochemical equipment and pipeline. It is convenient to effective managepetrochemical equipment and depending on the functions of analysis and inquiryand statistic, so that the decision can be obtained as soon as possible inemergent incidents.The paper researches the application of GIS in Petrochemical industry suchas safety management, petrochemical plant design and construction, plan,equipment repair and maintenance and etc, and studies in applying the volumevisualization technology to simulate the reacting process in reactor,adoptthe brief natural adaptive algorithm of Shepard and the light project algorithmin volume visualization of 3-dementional volume data. LOD and Mip-maptechnology is used in petrochemical unit 3-dementional visualization. Theresearch will have its impact to the management and production mode for a modernpetrochemical enterprise.
