With the step of the new century, agile manufacturing technology is taken more attention. The importance of competition and TQCS (time, quality, cost, service) are realized by most domestic manufacturing enterprise. The advanced manufacturing technology is largely adopted, the numerical control machine is fetched in, and the agile manufacturing cell is applied to adapt the task of multi-category and variable batch production. Data information is the fundament of agile manufacturing, whiles Data information collection is one of the key technologies to implement the agile manufacturing cell.Tool is indispensable key of supporting product to manufacturing equipment. It plays the crucial role in promoting both the efficiency of production and the ability of equipment process. The automatic collection of tool data information is the key. point to actualize the agile of manufacturing cell. It will not only resolve some problems such as slow speed, and high error rate which resulted from tool storage by manual operation, but also resolve the cutting tool position tracing problem in the manufacturing workshop. And the following problems, such as: low utilize rate of cutting tool resource, too long preparation time for manufacturing, the quality problem resulted from cutting tool suddenly break off can be resolved as well by combining with tool administration system. According to above mentioned problem, a method is introduced by this thesis, which is called tool direct mark identification technology, and this dissertation strengthens study on the following aspects:1) Summarize of cutting tool marking technology: The technology of tool mark identification is dissertate separately from directly marking technology and automatic identification technology of tool. Directly mark adopt the non-contact laser mark technology meanwhile automatic identification use the bar code technology, 1D bar code adapt the code 39, 2D bar code use the Data matrix .2) Directly laser marking experiment: The experiment of tool mark identification is based on the single factor experimentation, which is used for confirming the best parameter of 1D bar code and 2D bar code.
