Air pollution is one of the regional environmental problems, under the control of particular geographic conditions and the atmosphere general circulation, the air pollution in a particular area can affect other areas by long distance transmission, so the pollutants of surrounding region play a crucial role in the air quality of Beijing. In this paper, the Advanced Regional Prediction System (Advanced Regional Prediction System) and the air quality model Models-3 were combined to simulate the concentration, the test shows that the modeling results are consistent with the monitoring results and the coupled models system can be used to study the transportation and the impact of pollutants from surrounding regions.The surrounding regions in this paper include Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, and Hebei, parts of Shandong, Henan and Inner Mongolia. Take the emissions from Shanxi Province for example, then choose the full mouth of January, April, July, August, September, and October in 2002, and August in both 2003 and 2004 and some typical period for test.Through seasonal simulation, it can be seen that the greatest contribution ratio from Shanxi Province of PM10 are during April, September and October, about above 22%. And the greatest concentration is in September. The greatest contribution ratios of SO2 are during summer and autumn, about above 15%. And the greatest concentration is in September too. The value of August is the average of 2002-2004. This summer and autumn patterns formed regional atmospheric general circulation background a close relationship. For the case study, simulate the large point emissions, point emissions and area emissions separately, it can be seen that the average concentration and average contribution ratio of SO2 and PM10 of the point emissions are lager, area emissions take the second place, large point emissions is the smallest. Compare the average concentration and average contribution ratio of emissions from north and south of Shanxi Province during the typical period, it can be seen that the average concentration and average contribution ratio of emissions from north are plays a more important role than that of the south.Compare the concentration of total emissions minus the emissions from the surrounding region without Shanxi Province with the Shanxi emission, it can be seen that the two are much more similar, so we can just focus on the emissions of Shanxi Province effect on Beijing. During the test about ARPS, an ice micro-physics parameters is chosen in the model, it shows that the average concentration and average contribution ratio of SO2 and PM10 are little higher by new ARPS case of January, but in August these two are much more similar.In this paper, it shows that, pollutants from Shanxi can impact on Beijing's air quality in special meteorological condition during typical period. It is concluded that to control the emission sources of surrounding region of Beijing can not be ignored when enhancing the air quality of Beijing.
