Based on the simulation results by PRO/Ⅱ, a petrochemical flow simulationsoftware, the operation parameters such as pressure, temperature, reflux ratio, compositions of feed and purity of products which can influence energy-consumedand operation cost of the gas fractionation unit have been extensively studied in thisthesis. The optimal parameters and optimizing approach of the gas fractionation unitoperation are given. The main purpose of the gas fractionation unit operation is reducing propyleneexhaust and heat consumption by controlling deethanization tower and propylenerectification tower. Presently, many problems exist in gas fractionation, such as highreflux ratio, high operating pressure, wide range of pressure variety and excessivepurity of product, which cause high energy consumption and reducing the benefit ofthe unit. Therefore, the tower pressure should be kept stably. For the requirement ofproduct quality, the reflux ratio, temperature and pressure should be as lower aspossible according to the calculating results by PRO/Ⅱ. As to the operation ofdeethanization tower, it is reasonable and beneficial to improve tower pressureproperly. The change of constituents of feedstock will result in the increase of energyconsumption for the gas fractionation units which saturated LPG and FCC LPG arefed. NanYang wax Fine Chemical Plant has a process capacity of 3.0×104t/a, but ithas the loss of 2.94 million RMB annual, which equal to add 97.91 RMB per ton inprocess cost. It has a remarkable meaning for reaching the goal of realization of the finechemical stratagem and transformation of the product from exerting the potential ofthe gas fractionation unit and reducing the process cost of refinery. The results of thisthesis should have a guided value on designing and operating the gas fractionationunit with different feed sources.
