With the widely using of semiconductor photocatalysis in environmentprotecting, nanometer TiO2 was detailedly studied due to its excellent photocatalyticproperty. To meet the initial study of high efficiency photoreactor, we dedicate to thecombination of TiO2 coating with optical fiber and wish to obtain well-combined,stable coating which can deal with both organic and some inorganic contaminations.This paper deals with the method of nanometer TiO2 coating preparation withadditions such as dispersant and adhesive which are important to make a good qualityand well dispersive slurry. To get a well-combined coating through dipping process,we discussed the effect of several factors such as the content of TiO2 powders,adhesive and dispersant, coating times, evaporation condition. Experimental resultsrevealed that proper amount of dispersant will equably adsorbed in TiO2 particles toavoid the agglomeration and clumping of particles through ball milling process whichhelp to get well dispersed, stable nano-TiO2 slurry. The thickness of the coatingincreased with the content of TiO2 and the dipping times but decreased with thecontent of adhesive. Coating hardness and quality was the best under the content ofTiO2 within 30~35%. Furthermore, factors such as disperse state of slurry, heattreatment and inner stress was prone to lead to fractures of coatings. Experimentalconditions and parameters were continually optimized to obtain a well-combined anddurable TiO2 coating.We can conclude from degradation experiment that films prepared throughabove method have better photocatalytic properties. It will be an excellent method forfixing nano-TiO2 if the quality can be controlled more easily because of its simpleprocess and being prone to operate in industrialization.
